American Crafts | Absolutely Thankful

Thanksgiving has come and gone, and I know we all have photos of our family and our favorite foods to document!  This past week on the American Crafts Blog, the Design Team shared Thanksgiving inspiration, and my layout was on the Blog yesterday.  If you missed any of this past week's posts, make sure you stop by and check out ideas for cards, layouts and projects for this year's Thanksgiving photos or ideas to pin for next Thanksgiving!  Here's a look at what I created!

How to: Start out by cutting triangle shapes on your die cut machine or hand cut some triangle shapes.  Arrange the triangles on a dark woodgrain background paper and adhere. Once your triangles are in place, choose several of your shapes and add machine stitching. Use a Shimelle photo overlay and layer it behind your photo. Place your photo and mat on the upper left hand corner of the page. Create your title using the die set from the Shimelle collection and stamp the phrase Absolutely on your die cut banner. Finish your title with the Gold Fitzgerald Thickers. Add a date above your photo using the Dunbar Thickers. Embellish around your photo using the Shimelle Cork Stickers, Wood Veneers, and Bits pieces. Add journaling strips to finish your layout.

Supplies: Haunted Hollow (368673) - Haunted Forest, Shimelle (368136) - Goodall, Shimelle (368159) - Winlock, Shimelle (368145) - Herschel, Thickers (368162) - Fitzgerald, Thickers (368163) - Dunbar, Shimelle (368166) - Accent & Phrase Stickers, Shimelle (368169) - Acrylic Stamps, Shimelle (368171) - Photo Overlays, Shimelle (368173) - Ephemera Die Cuts, Shimelle (368175) - Wood Veneer Shapes, Shimelle (368179) - Nesting Dies

Hip Kit Club | Bubble Lights

It's time to share a little more Christmas cheer, with a new layout and card for Hip Kit Club, using the November 2014 Hip Kit and Add-On Kits!  This Kit makes it so easy to scrap your holiday photos and if you love to make hand-made Christmas cards, then you've got plenty of goodies to create some amazing cards!

The November 2014 Hip Kit & Add-On Kits, includes one of my favorite layout accessories...TAGS! I decided to mix the American Crafts Bits Tags and Elle's Studio Good Cheer Tags, to create a banner look across my page. I laid out the tags, to find out a size for my photo and once I had my photo printed, I attached the tags and photo across the page. Then I used my sewing machine to stitch across the top of each tag. I embellished with some of the Elle's Studio wood veneers, Pink Paislee stickers, Studio Calico rub-ons and one of the Evalicious Flair Buttons. And I used the American Crafts Candy Cane Thickers, for the title of my page.

I'm always so excited to see the alpha options in each month's new Hip Kit! The November 2014 Hip Kit & Add-On Kits, includes four alpha options. I thought it would be fun to mix them for the sentiment on my card. I used the Candy Cane and Buckaroo Thickers, along with the Elle's Studio Gray letter stickers, to create the Ho Ho Ho Merry Christmas sentiment on my card. I cut my White cardstock base at 4.5x9 inches, to create a square shaped card. And to add a little twinkle, I layered some of the Studio Calico star rub-ons in the background, before adding my Thickers and letter stickers.

And if you're excited for the December 2014 Hip Kit & Add-On Kits, then the wait is up!  It's been revealed and is so awesome!  It's packed with lots of American Crafts goodies, including the new Amy Tan Stitched collection and Dear Lizzy Serendipity collection!

You can find the December 2014 Hip Kit Main Kit, along with all of the Add-On Kits in the Hip Kit Store!

A Flair for Buttons | You're a Hoot

It's time to share a new layout for A Flair for Buttons!  For this layout, I used some of my favorite Flair images...OWLS!!  Love them!!  I wanted to use the fun What a HOOT Flair Set, but for a different theme, rather than Fall.  So I decided to use a funny photo of our son, and use two of the Owl buttons from the set, in my title along with the Smile Flair Button from the Wood Words Flair set!

I cut my title "You're a Hoot" from the November Notions cut file set from The Cut Shoppe.  I knew the Flair Buttons would be perfect as the "O's" in my title.  And I kept the title and Flair Buttons on the White side of my diagonal design, so they would stand out!  The Smile Flair Button fit right in also, because of the huge grin on our son's face!  It's fun to think outside the box and find ways to use your themed Flair sets, for a layout or project that may not fit that theme!

And if you "need" these fun owl Flair Buttons make sure you stop by the A Flair For Buttons Etsy Shop, and you'll also find the Wood Words Flair Set, while you're there!

Shimelle 5 Things with Die Cuts

I am here today, to share two more of the layouts, I created for my 5 Things with Die Cuts post for Shimelle!  So let's get to it!!  :)

BUSY BEING HAPPY: Use a Full Die Cut Background

I wanted to use a full die cut background for this layout, but I was down to my last sheet of Haynes patterned paper, and it had already been cut. So I decided to do an 8.5×11 format and still work with the full die cut background. The Haynes patterned paper worked perfectly for this look, because I wanted a multi-colored patterned paper behind my White cardstock.

8 IS GREAT: Layer & Cluster Die Cuts

I used several different die cuts on this layout, including a tag, flowers and leaves, to layer and cluster behind my photo. I also wanted to add some different layers and dimension to my die cuts, so I mixed in a wood veneer, rub-ons and stickers.

All of the Cut Files I used on my Shimelle layouts can be found in my Etsy store, The Cut Shoppe!  And if you're stopping by The Cut Shoppe to do a little shopping this week, you can save 25% off of your purchase, with the Coupon Code SAVE25!

I'll have one more Shimelle layout to share with you, so watch for it on the Blog soon!

Echo Park | Give Thanks

Hi everyone!  I'm stopping in today to share a Thanksgiving card with you, that I created using a mix of Echo Park collections.  A card for Thanksgiving may not always be the first thing that comes to mind, but what better time of year to show your gratitude and thankfulness, than Thanksgiving!!

Here’s a helpful tip, when you are creating a Thanksgiving card, but don’t have any specific Thanksgiving supplies on hand…pull supplies from some of your existing collections.  I tend to think of Brown, Yellow, Orange, Red and Green for Thanksgiving, so I found papers that I could use from the Walking on Sunshine collection and Stickers from the I Heart Fall Mini Theme collection.  Once I put these supplies together, I knew they would work perfectly for a Thanksgiving card theme!

And don’t miss out on other ways to get crafty for Thanksgiving.  You could use your Echo Park collections to create Thanksgiving themed table décor or what about fun craft projects for the kids to put together.

American Crafts | Place Card

This week, the American Crafts Design Team has been sharing ideas for Place Cards!  With Thanksgiving less than a week away, you can find some great ideas for decorating your Thanksgiving table, everyday table, or a party table!  I shared my take on a Place Card yesterday on the American Crafts Blog and wanted to stop by and share it here, with you today!

How to: Begin by cutting a 3.5x3" piece from the Curie patterned paper. Use the Acrylic Stamp and stamp across the background of your paper. Cut the banner shape using the Nesting Dies. Adhere your banner and use the Fitzgerald Thickers for the name on your place card. Add gold heart stickers from the Accent & Phrase Stickers pack and the "Party" sticker from the Letter Stickers pack. You can also create a stand for your place card by using a large clothes pin. Cut the Swanson patterned paper to cover the front of your clothes pin. Fussy cut the words "Drink" and "Tea" from Shimelle patterned paper and adhere to the front of the clothes pin.

Supplies: Shimelle (368149) - Curie, Shimelle (368145) - Herschel, Shimelle (368152) - Haynes, Shimelle (368155) - Swanson, Shimelle (368179) - Nesting Dies, Shimelle (368169) - Acrylic Stamps, Shimelle (368166) - Accent & Phrase Stickers, Shimelle (368164) - Letter Stickers, Thickers (368162) - Fitzgerald

Hip Kit Club | Cookies for Santa

It's officially Christmas at our house!  All of the decorations are up, and we are ready for all of the fun Christmas activities and traditions.  And of course, I'm in the mood to scrapbook some Christmas photos, which the November Hip Kit & Add-On Kits from Hip Kit Club is perfect for!  I have a new layout and card to share with you today, using all of the Christmas goodies from the November Hip Kit!

We all snap photos of our family and friends during the holidays, but don't forget to photograph your traditions and favorite holiday foods too! I used the November 2014 Hip Kit & Add-On Kits, to document our tradition of leaving cookies out for Santa on Christmas Eve. I also wanted to use a dominate color, so I pulled some Reds from the kit and created a visual Triangle. The Thickers in the November Kits are perfect for mixing and matching, and how fun are the Candy Cane Thickers!! I also added some touches of Gold and Silver, with the Evalicious embellishments and Studio Calico star rub-ons.

As you may have figured out by now, I am a patterned paper junkie! And one of my favorites in the November 2014 Hip Kit & Add-On Kits, is the Santa's Workshop paper from Pebbles. I love the fun postal stamped look of the paper and wanted to use it on a card. It made a perfect base for the cover of my card and then I added the Merry and Bright tag from the American Crafts tag pack as my sentiment. And I couldn't resist using the awesome Candy Cane Thickers again, so I placed them next to one of the Evalicious Flair Buttons. I finished my card by adding one of the wood veneer stars from the Elle's Studio Good Cheer pack and Silver sticker labels from Pink Paislee!

These Kits are going fast, so make sure you stop by the Hip Kit Club Shop to pick up yours!  You can also purchase the awesome December Documented Kit while you are there!

A Flair for Buttons | The Doc Is In

Even though Thanksgiving is almost here, I'm stopping in today to share a Halloween layout that I created for A Flair for Buttons.  That's the great thing about Scrapbooking...you can work on any holiday you want to, all year long!  I just couldn't resist putting together one of my favorite photos of our middle daughter in her Halloween costume, with the Halloween Fun Flair set.

I wanted most of the focus on my photo, and also wanted to make use of the White space on the left side of my photo.  I used two of the Flair Buttons from the Halloween Fun Flair set, right on my photo, along with some tags and wood veneers!  I love the simple Black & White color scheme of these two Flair Buttons, because you don't have to stick with a typical Halloween color scheme on your layout.  I used a lot of White on this layout, to keep the focus on the photo and then added in traditional Halloween colors, by using small amounts of Black, Yellow and Orange.  And I thought it would be fun to use the Flower Power cut file from The Cut Shoppe, to go along with the little flower on Doc McStuffins' headband, and I added some Gelatos under several of the flowers, for a pop of color.

There are lots of fun Halloween Flair sets available in the Shop, so make sure you stop by and check them out!  Here's a full look at the set I used for my page.

And, I'm excited to share that A Flair for Buttons and The Cut Shoppe will be teaming up this Friday, November 21st, for an awesome Blog Hop!  Make sure you join us for all of the inspiration, giveaways and coupon codes for both shops!!

Hope to see you there!!

Shimelle 5 Things with Die Cuts

I was so excited to be invited to share a 5 Things post on the Shimelle Blog, and it went up last Friday!  Shimelle's new collection is so awesome, and it was fun creating 5 layouts and ended up with totally different looks for each one.  My post was 5 Things with Die Cuts, and I used several cut files from The Cut Shoppe and paired them with all of the awesome Shimelle goodies!  So today, I wanted to stop in and share two of the layouts, that were up on Shimelle's Blog last week!

THESE BOOTS: Die Cut on Your Photo
Sometimes when I’m taking a photo, I like to have my subject off center and include White space in the picture. And that White space is perfect for die cutting on your photo! I printed a large photo at 5×5 inches. I placed the photo on my Silhouette mat and added the title letters in Silhouette Studio. Once the word was cut from the photo, I backed it with the Earheart patterned paper.

Cut File: Alpha Junior

BUDDING ARTIST LAYOUT: Create an Ombre Look on Your Die Cut
Mixing spray mists or Gelatos with die cuts, can create a fun and unique look. I wanted to create an Ombre effect on the Love background cut file, using several spray mist colors. I chose varying shades of Red and Pink and started at the bottom of my die cut background, spraying the lightest color first and working my way up to the darker spray mist. And with all of the spray mist colors out there, it’s easy to choose the ones that coordinate perfectly with the colors in the Shimelle collection!

Cut File:  Lucky In Love Background

I'll be sharing some of my other layouts from the Shimelle post soon, so make sure you check them out!  Thanks for stopping by!

American Crafts | So Grateful Card Set

It's getting close to one of my favorite holidays...Thanksgiving!  It's always so fun to get together with family, and of course, eat all of those yummy Thanksgiving goodies!  It's also a great time to share what you are thankful for, and that's just what the Design Team at American Crafts has being doing all this week!  I shared two cards on the American Crafts Blog yesterday, for So Grateful week, and wanted to stop in and share them with you today!

How to: Cut several different patterned papers and place them over your card base to create a patchwork look. Die cut a leaf shape and cut a square around the negative image. Place the negative leaf on the left hand side of your card. Add a sentiment to the top and bottom of your card using the Oakleaf Thickers. Machine stitch through your Thickers. Remove the paperclip from the chevron arrow in the Decorative Paper Clip pack and use it as an embellishment on your card. Add one of the Matte Puffy Stickers to the center of the negative leaf image.

Supplies: Autumn Crisp (366523) - Cedar, Autumn Crisp (366524) - Poplar, Autumn Crisp (366517) - Cherry, Autumn Crisp (366535) - Stickers, Autumn Crisp (366536) - Matte Puffy Accents, Autumn Crisp (366534) - Decorative Paper Clips, Thickers (366527) - Oakleaf

How to: Cut a 4.25x5.5" base from the Harvest patterned paper to place over your cardstock card base. Trace three leaf shapes onto the paper, using a die cut leaf and brown pen. Add a Photo Overlay from the Autumn Crisp collection over the front of your card and add machine stitching to hold it in place. Create a cluster for your sentiment using pieces from the Die Cut Cardstock Shapes, Decorative Button, and Matte Puffy Accent.

Supplies: Autumn Crisp (366525) - Harvest, Autumn Crisp (366533) - Photo Overlays, Autumn Crisp (366532) - Die Cut Cardstock Shapes, Autumn Crisp (366536) - Matte Puffy Accents, Autumn Crisp (366531) - Mixed Buttons

Thanks for stopping in today, and I hope you have a great weekend, and can get in some crafty time!!
